Hello!

Hi! I'm Kira. I'm an enthusiastic developer with a diverse set of skills and a whole lot of life experience to bring to the table.

After getting my BA in Buisness Admin/HR I worked at Trader Joes for many years, helped found and run a science education non-profit, and produced/hosted a science podcast. I developed strong leadership, administrative, and content production skills and discovered that I sincerely love teaching. Then in 2018 I made a pivot and started studying computer science.

I absolutely love this field! I love solving problems, learning new things, and empowering others with knowledge and experience.

I specialize in backend web development, databases, and software engineering (checkout some of my projects below!).

I have exmperience with: Python, Rust, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL, C, C++, Git, Linux, PostgreSQL, NodeJS, React, Axum, Tokio, Docker, HTML, CSS, Django and I can google search my way to solutions like a pro!

The next area I have my eyes set on are data analysis and engineering. If we can find creative, compelling, and meaningful ways to use the globs of data available, I think we can make this world better for everyone.

I've spent my graduate education working as a Graduate Assistant for the foundational and algorithm computer science classes here at PSU. I help build curriculum, deliver content, and most importantly encourage new students to discover that computer science is absolutely something they can do.

I graduate in December 2023 with an MS in Computer Science from Portland State University. I'm looking forward to the next step in this journey!
